THE GROWTH OF CITIES

People go to love in cities to find work. People go to cities because there are schools and doctors for their children. Young people go to cities because they think life is exciting there. They can make more friends of their own age and live more freely. Some people go to cities because of trouble at home. They have no land or they have quarreled with their family. For these reasons our cities are growing quickly. But city life is often difficult for these newcomers. There are more people looking for jobs then there are jobs. A place to live in and thing to eat cost more in a city. In a city people are strangers to each other and it is easy to be lonely. Cities attract thousands every year but many later wish they had not left their village.
