Summary

The poem ‘Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies’ is an excerpt (part) extracted from the play ‘The Tempest’ by William Shakespeare. It is in fact a song sung by Ariel, the spirit of Ferdinand, the prince of Naples who mistakenly thinks that his father is drowned into the sea and had a meaningless death. The spirit Ariel is consoling the prince that his father past away with a glorious death. The eyes of the death king have been changed into pearls whereas the bones have been transformed into corals. In this way the Ariel sympathizes the prince saying that every part of the king have been changed into something new and strange and nothing has decayed. Furthermore, there are sea nymphs who welcomed the death king to their world by ringing the death bell every hour. Which signify that the king’s death had certain value.
