01-    Chinese national held with Yarsa

          Rasuwa, July 6: A Chinese national was nabbed with Yarsahumba in Rasuwagadhi on Wednesday afternoon while being smuggled to China.

          According to District Police Office, Rasuwa, Chief Phanindra Prasain, the arrested was twenty-four-year-old Chinese male,  Sanjehi Kagalshajam.

          Police recovered well-packed 296 pieces of Yarsa from the Chinese national.

          Investigation into the incident is underway, police said.

02-    English medium education first priority

          Solukhumbu, July 6: Teaching and learning through English medium will start in all community schools of Dudhkausika rural municipality.

          After assuming office on Wednesday, newly-elected rural municipality chairperson Asim Rai announced the decision to adopt English medium teaching and learning in the schools by arranging necessary human resource.

          Besides, Chairperson Rai also took the decisions to undertake feasibility study for technical and vocational education, install CCTV for checking corruption and red tape in administration and improving public service delivery.

03-    UML wins Siddharthanagar municipality

          Lumbini, July 6: CPN-UML has registered victory in Siddharthanagar municipality of Bhairahawa.

          Hari Prasad Adhikari of UML secured victory as mayor by gaining 6,705 votes. His close contender Matrika Prasad Yadav of Nepali Congress (NC) obtained 5,250 votes, said Chief Election Officer Murari Babu Shrestha.
          Likewise, Uma Kafle of CPN-UML secured 6,172 votes to become deputy mayor. Her rival Madhavi Sharma of NC secured 5,224 votes.

04-    Vote count resumes in Dharan after 59 hours

          Itahari, July 6: Vote count has resumed in Dharan municipality after 59 hours.

          Vote count of the municipality was put on hold after dispute among the contesting political parties over the calculation of votes in ward number 9.
          A meeting concluded late night came up with a decision on consensus to resume vote count from this morning.
          The meeting decided to replace the existing Election Officer Jaya Prasad Mahat with Kamal Thapa, review the already counted votes of ward numbers 1 to 8 and recount of votes in ward 9,10 and 11.

          Chief Returning Officer Arjun Kumar Koirala took the initiative to give outlet to the deadlock surfaced in vote count in Dharan.
          Political parties including CPN (Maoist Centre) had voiced concern over the deliberate mistakes committed by two employees deputed in vote count. The two employees have been suspended.

          According to the results already published, Nepali Congress had won all posts in ward 1 and 2 while UML emerged winner in wards 3, 4,5,6,7, and 8 of the municipality.

05-    Vote count results of 316 local levels announced

          Kathmandu, July 6: Vote count results of 316 local levels under the second phase of civic polls so far have been announced.

          The election took place in 334 local levels of 35 districts under three provinces on last June 28.
          According to the Election Commission, vote count so far has complete in 28 districts while it is undergoing in 18 local levels of seven districts.
          So far CPN-UML has won 141 local levels followed by NC with 117, CPN (MC) 37, Federal Socialist Forum seven, Nepal Loktantrik Forum six, RPP four, Rastriya Janamorcha two and independent candidate one, according to the Election Commission.

06-    Tarun Dal cadre killed in accident

          Itahari, July 6: Tarun Dal activist Roshan Tamang, a local of Itahari 20, died on the spot when a tractor knocked him nearby Saathi Fuel Petrol Pump along the Dharan-Biratnagar road section.
          The tractor ran over Tamang while he was trying to overtake the vehicle. He was on the way to Biratnagar from Itahari.

          Primary investigation of the police said that Tamang's motorbike (Ko 6 Pa 992) was hit by the tractor (Ko 1 Ta 1583).

          Investigation into the incident is underway after impounding both the vehicles, police said.
