Public awareness campaign for Chure conservation

Nawalparasi, Jan 3: The Chure Conservation Programme is presently operational in 30 Terai districts including Nawalparasi.
The programme also includes the public awareness campaign on the importance of Chure. Likewise, efforts will be made to aware of a role they can play from their sides to protect the Chure region.
The programme covers the Dhurkot, Tilakpur, Ramnagar, Kushma, Harpur, Badahara, Dubailiya, Devgawan and Rampuranwa VDCs and Bardaghat and Ramgram Municipalities in the district.
Various groups at a local level have been formed (as a part of the programme) which are expected to work for the conservation of the Chure region.
Meanwhile, the installation of deep tube wells in Devgawan, Germi, Sanahi, Badahara and Dubauliya areas has brought happiness among the locals as onwards they need not search for alternative water resources to irrigate arable land. Some 1,500 households have benefited from the installation of deep tube wells. Lawmaker Bikram Khanal took initiatives for this. According to lawmaker Khanal, Rs 7.6 million has been invested to dig tube wells in these areas.
