27-    SC issues interim order not to implement re-election in Bharatpur-19

          Kathmandu, June 5: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued an interim order not to implement the decision of the Election Commission to conduct re-election in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19.

          A single bench of Justice Choldendra Shumsher JBR issued the order not to implement the Commission's decision to hold re-election in Ward No. 19 until June 11, SC's Spokesperson Mahendra Upadhyay said.

          The EC on Saturday had decided to hold the polls again in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19, after some ballot papers were torn and rendered useless in course of the counting.

          The SC has also summoned the EC to hold discussions on the issue on June 11.

          Member candidate under the open category of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 Gunja Man BK and advocate Tulsiram Pandey on Sunday had filed a writ petition demanding to scrap the EC's move to hold the poll again naming the Office of Chief Election Office Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chief Election Officer and others as defendants. 

28-    Comet to be viewed near earth

          Kathmandu, June 5:  The comet is to be viewed very close from the earth.

          After 6:30 pm, it can be viewed close from Nepal. It is the first and the last viewing of comet from Nepal, said Suresh Bhattarai, Chairman of Nepal Astronomical Society.

          The comet was found under the Catalina Sky Survey by astronomer Jess Jhonson on November 3, 2015. As this is hyperbolic, it will not come close to earth again.

          When it comes close to earth, the distance between this star and the earth measures 121.3 km today, added the Society.

          For those to view this astronomical wonder, arrangement has been made at Ankur Bidyashram of Gaushala, Kathmandu. 

          With this arrangement, one can also see the Moon and the Jupiter, Chairman Bhattarai said, adding that even the queries on astronomy and physics would be responded.

          The Society has been providing free facilities for anyone interested to observe the astronomical events.

29-    Talks between Oli-NC leaders positive

          Bhaktapur, June 5: A meeting held between three leaders of the Nepali Congress- Bimalendra Nidhi, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Pradip Giri- and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli concluded positively today.

          The three NC leaders had reached Oli's residence in Balkot to discuss how the obstruction of parliament could be cleared.

          Responding to media persons after the around two hour-long meet, NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi said the discussion on ending House obstruction was very positive. Also the Deputy Prime Minister leader Nidhi said, "We dwelt on the measures to clear the obstruction. NC requested UML Chair to assist NC in this regard, and the discussion ended on a positive note."

          Similarly, UML Chairman Oli said, "NC leaders were for quick resumption of the parliament for the election of the new prime minister. I told them that UML was never an obstacle to consensus and reminded them that the problem was created because of the ruling parties' arrogance. UML was positive for solving problems."

          The politics is on a standstill as the major opposition UML did not participate in the process of the prime ministerial election, creating obstruction of the parliament.

          Sher Bahadur Deuba from the Nepali Congress is the sole candidate for the post of Prime Minister. 

30-    Nepal Paribwar Dal to sit in opposition

          Kathmandu, June 5: The Nepal Pariwar Dal which has two lawmakers in the Legislature-Parliament has decided to remain in opposition in the upcoming government.

          A meeting of the party's central work execution committee chaired the party chairman Yeknath Dhakal decided to sit in the opposition bench and continuously raise voice for nation, nationality, democracy and people's livelihood.

          The party has also decided to judge the new government based on its merits and demerits.

          Party chairman Dhakal said that government change in between the elections was not a right move adding that all party agreement was needed for implementation of the constitution. 

31-    UML agrees to end House disruption

          Kathmandu, June 5: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba's path for the prime ministerial berth has become easier after the CPN (UML) agreed to resume the Legislature-Parliament business.

          During a meeting of the three major political parties held in Singha Durbar today at the initiative of Speaker Onsari Gharti, the UML leaders have said that they would not obstruct the House meeting.

          After the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Nepali Congress President Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli would address the House after the resumption of the House meeting.

          Immediately after the address of the top leaders, Speaker Gharti would inform the House about all the procedures in the prime ministerial election and the election would be held in the second meeting of the House.

          Likewise, UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal said that the second meeting of the House to be held on Tuesday would elect Deuba as the PM. Khanal also said that the top leaders have reached an agreement to conduct the second phase of the local level elections in a free, fair and fearless manner.

          Similarly, consensus has been forged to work unitedly to conduct the polls of province and central levels and utilize the state mechanisms neutrally. 

32-    Minister Mahat urges youths to spread message of peace

          Kathmandu, June 5: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has urged Nepali youths to spread the message of peace and beauty across the globe.

          Bidding farewell to a group of youths embarking on a good will visit to various nine Asian countries on the occasion of the World Environment Day on Monday, Minister Dr Mahat said, "Youths can play a significant role to spread the message of peace and natural beauty of Nepal."

          Five youths Dipak Poudel, Shyam Prasad Subedi,  Suraj Adhikari, Ramesh Dhital and Ram Krishna Nepal left the country for the visit to India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. They are traveling these countries on a motorcycle.

          On the occasion, Minister Mahat stressed that time has come for every Nepali to inform the world about the Nepal's love for peace, and the reality that the Profounder of Peace and Non-Violence, Gautam Buddha was born in Nepal.

          The visit would be of 101 days. The youths are spreading the message of peace and environment conservation.
